After many years of cruising aboard Bluebird, I have concluded that the time has come to turn her over
to someone with an equal passion for sailing. I offer this site as an introduction to her, and what she has to offer
Built in England in 1983 as a complete cruising yacht and single-handed ocean racer.
Hull core is 20mm plasticell with Kevlar.
The deck is plasticell filled, not balsa, and is THICK
Built to be the first of a Migrant production series, she was the only one built before the company went out of business.
Despite this, she is fully molded, not laid up in parts.
The hull, as seen in the original articles, is one piece, as is the deck. The deck is glued and bolted to the hull to form a tight seal.
Most likely she is the sturdiest boat you will ever see. Very solid hull, as described in the articles and brochure, and good as new.
Length: 44'11" Beam: 12'10" Draft: 5'9"
She has a displacement listed at 33,500 lbs (15,194 kg) and a stability rating of 123.5. (see her ORR rating).
Engine was replaced with a Volvo MD22L diesel. Now has about 2800 hours. Prop is a two blade Max-Prop.
New georgeous wiring some years ago. Still looks showroom new. Includes many systems including a computerized breaker panel
She is very easy to manage, as everything comes back to the cockpit (I can attest to this as I came back from Bermuda once, essentially alone).
Main rolls into the mast, both jibs furl. Two spinnaker poles allow for jibing from the cockpit, something you do not often see.
What is included:
Two cruising jibs
In-mast furling mainsail
Kappa mizzen 2015
Spinnaker (2 poles)
45 lb CQR with 200' heavy chain
And lots of other things
Recently completed: bottom stripped, 3 barrier coats, 2 bottom paints.
Offered at $85,000.
